The other night, I was reading the story of Mr. Rush to my 4-year-old daughter. As I turned the pages and came across the part where Mr. Rush hurriedly ran around, missing out on enjoyable experiences like a nice breakfast, I couldn’t help but smile. The illustration showed a tangled line going nowhere, and it struck a chord with me.
It made me reflect on how we, as humans, can sometimes find ourselves caught up in a rush, moving quickly but missing out on the beauty of the present moment.
It reminded me of what Eckhart Tolle describes as living unconsciously, unaware of our surroundings and the purpose behind our actions.
But then I thought about coaching. Coaching is a powerful tool that allows us to reconnect with our purpose and bring conscious awareness to our lives. It’s like Mr. Happy gently noticing Mr. Rush and asking, ‘Where is he running like that?’
Through coaching, we can slow down, untangle the lines that hold us back, and find clarity and direction.
It’s about re-evaluating our priorities, discovering what truly matters to us, and making intentional choices that align with our values.
So, as I closed the book and looked at my daughter, I was reminded of the importance of being present, of taking the time to savour each experience, and of embracing the journey rather than rushing towards an undefined destination.
If you’ve ever felt like a faint version of Mr. Rush, constantly on the go but missing out on the joy of the moment, perhaps it’s time to consider coaching. It can help you reconnect with your purpose, navigate life’s twists and turns, and find balance and fulfilment.
Take a moment to reflect: Where is your rush leading you? Are you ready to slow down and create a meaningful path forward?

Remember, life is too precious to rush through. Embrace the present, find your purpose, and make every step count.

The good kind of cold I have just returned from a short strategy retreat in Helsinki with Minna- my business partner on Flourish Financially. We went there to think, to plan, to breathe, and to look at Flourish Financially from a little further away. And as often...

There is a moment in every transformation that is almost invisible. It is not the moment we decide to change.Nor the moment others start noticing. It is the moment when we realise, quietly and with a little surprise:Oh… I have travelled a long way. That moment has...
Enthusiasm Is Not Naïve. It Is How I Choose to Stay Alive.
Let me share something with you, simply, honestly. I had one of those moments recently. Not a dramatic revelation, more a quiet internal click. The kind that gently rearranges things rather than shaking them apart. I was listening to an interview with a filmmaker, and...
